An intensive workshop for aspiring cabaret artists. All performers will have the opportunity to perform in a Workshop Showcase at Two Corks and a Bottle. They will also have priority placement in the So You Think You Can Cabaret Competition for a chance to perform at the 4th Annual Dallas Cabaret Festival.

With only 10 artists per workshop, we will focus on these basic skills:
* stage presence
* connecting with an audience
* microphone technique
* choosing appropriate musical material
* the importance of banter
* lyric interpretation
* refining phrasing
* overcoming stage fright
* communicating effectively with accompanists
*****What to prepare: 2 songs, preferably 1 uptempo and one ballad. Bring sheet music in your key. Please know the songs.
Denise Lee is the creator of the Denise Lee Onstage Cabaret Series and the Dallas Cabaret Festival. She is an award-winning actress and singer based in Dallas with three decades of performance experience. She has performed for international crowds at clubs in Shanghai, Beijing, Switzerland and France. Lee was the first Sammons Center for the Arts 'Cabaret Artist of the Year'. She is the recipient of multiple Dallas Voice Reader's Voice and Dallas Theater Critics Forum Awards. Her cabaret show 'Too Old, Too Fat, Too Black-Songs I'll Never Sing on Broadway' brought a record number of over 500 attendees to the Women's Building. She was awarded the 2015 & 2016 Broadway World Dallas Award for Best Cabaret Performer.
Pianist Jeff Lankov has been hailed for his “alternately ferocious and sensitive” (New York Times), “muscular and moving” (Dallas Morning News) “performances of brilliance and dedication…there seems to be nothing that eludes his grasp.” (New York Concert Review). As a solo recitalist, collaborative pianist, and musical director, Lankov has performed in the world’s major concert venues; on Broadway in Mary Poppins; Newsies, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular; and on national tours including Phantom of the Opera; Will Rogers Follies; My Fair Lady; South Pacific; The Book of Mormon; Miss Saigon; Jesus Christ Superstar; Beauty and the Beast; Spamalot; Beautiful; and Wicked. He is a sought-after cabaret arranger and coach, and has collaborated with cabaret artists internationally.
Dr.Lankov holds a Ph.D. in Piano Performance from New York University, and is currently Associate Professor of Music at Tarrant County College.
