A class for beginning actors as well as those wanting to expand their tools and technique.

Session 1. AWAKENING the actor’s instrument: mind, heart, will. Using exercises and improvisations to liberate the body/voice and stimulate the imagination.

Session 2. BUILDING TOOLS AND SKILLS which enable the engagement and transformation necessary for inspired and inspiring acting.

Session 3. APPLYING TOOLS AND SKILLS to short monologues and scenes.

The approach is based on the work of Michael Chekhov and others, including the 12+Guideposts of Michael Shurtleff (Stanislavski based audition work). The class requires TOTAL PARTICIPATION and a willingness to PLAY with courage, focus and joy.

GAIL CRONAUER has spent decades working in the Dallas-Fort Worth theatre community, as a director, teacher and actress. She is currently on the faculty of Collin College, Theatre 3 and STAGE. She is passionate about guiding and supporting emerging artists and the promoting the power and importance of language. She is a certified Michael Chekhov Technique instructor. She’s a member of AEA (Actors Equity Association) and currently serves on the SAG –AFTRA board.

Gail has received numerous awards and nominations for her work with local theatres including Undermain, Kitchen Dog Theater, WaterTower Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Lyric Stage and Shakespeare Dallas, where she played Emelia to Morgan Freeman’s Othello. She starred (as Richard!)in the Judith Shakespeare Company’s off-Broadway production of Richard III.

Gail was honored by the USA Film Fest for her work on screen. Her credits include JFK, Flesh and Bone, Carried Away, The Newton Boys, Infamous, Boys Don’t Cry, Steps of Faith, Te Ata. She appeared in the acclaimed mini-series Murder in the Heartland and the TV movies The Substitute Wife, A Mother’s Gift, The Unspoken Truth and WARNING: Parental Advisory! Her indie film credits include: Spilt Milk, Learning Curve and Occupy, Texas, which premiered at the 2016 Dallas International Film Festival. Each class will run approximately 2.5 hours.
